This program serves as the initial step for those pursuing conventional secondary education pathways. It focuses on the Initial Teacher Education component of your professional journey. After successfully completing an induction year in a school setting (Teaching Induction Scheme), you'll earn certification to teach Chemistry across Scotland.

We equip you to instruct various science components within both the broad general education curriculum and the senior phase aligned with Chemistry National Qualifications.

Through two campus-based study modules paired with three practical school placements, you'll develop essential classroom competencies while studying pedagogical theories for teaching Chemistry to students of different ages. The program also addresses educator responsibilities in fostering literacy, numeracy, and student well-being.

With limited class sizes, you'll enjoy a close-knit, supportive academic environment. A dedicated tutor will provide personalized guidance throughout the course, including assessment during each placement. You'll also receive mentorship from experienced teachers within your placement schools.
