Infertility affects millions worldwide, with about 1 in 7 couples of reproductive age—roughly 80 million people globally—receiving an infertility diagnosis. This has led to rising demand for assisted reproductive technology (ART) and expanding career prospects in this sector.
Our comprehensive course delivers in-depth training in human clinical embryology, andrology, and ART, covering clinical practice, research methodologies, and laboratory techniques. With a focus on human applications, the program includes hands-on training in sperm preparation and handling. You'll master essential lab skills, including operating specialized equipment for gamete retrieval and assisted conception procedures.
Unique among embryology programs, our teaching occurs on-site at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, a major healthcare facility. This setting allows you to observe NHS clinic operations, following patients from initial consultations through complete ART treatment cycles. You'll gain valuable insights into both clinical protocols and scientific processes, understanding how laboratory work directly impacts patient outcomes.
The curriculum also includes research components, where you'll design and execute your own investigative project.
Our faculty comprises seasoned embryologists, andrologists, researchers, and medical professionals, ensuring you acquire the balanced expertise needed to pursue careers in either clinical ART practice or scientific research.
