This program is designed to educate future science communicators as bridges between the public and technological/scientific advancements. It merges hands-on training in modern communication techniques—directly linked to professional opportunities—with strong theoretical foundations. In today's climate of increasing populism and debates about truth in public discourse, the connections between expertise, knowledge, and society are being reevaluated. While science and technology dramatically improve quality of life for many, creating possibilities unimaginable to past generations, they also risk leaving some communities behind. Simultaneously, these fields represent a major and expanding sector of the global economy, offering rewarding careers and potential solutions to pressing global challenges.
Our MSc in Science Communication prepares students to navigate these complex dynamics, acknowledging that while effective communication is crucial, simply sharing information won't resolve all science-society tensions. We understand that even in conventional science PR or journalism roles, merely promoting scientific achievements won't establish the trust, audience connections, or credibility desired by organizations, media outlets, or society at large. To develop skilled mediators who can foster public engagement with science and technology, we blend practical instruction in cutting-edge communication methods—with clear career pathways—with robust theoretical underpinnings.
