This MRes program educates students in the rapidly expanding field of synthetic biology, an interdisciplinary science that applies our current knowledge of biological system components to systematically design and construct new artificial biological systems. Participants gain expertise across key synthetic biology domains, including engineering concepts, mathematical modeling, advanced molecular biology, microbiology, biochemical engineering, and essential chemistry. The curriculum additionally equips students with skills for obtaining and critically evaluating scientific literature, along with transferable research competencies. A significant research component offers comprehensive training in synthetic biology methodologies.

Qualification Requirements
Normally, a minimum of an upper second-class UK Bachelor's degree in biochemistry, biomedical sciences, life sciences, biochemical engineering, chemical biology or any related subject area, or a medical degree (MBBS), or a physical sciences degree, or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard. Applicants with an appropriate professional qualification and relevant work experience may also apply. The English language level for this programme is: Level 1
