This interdisciplinary program allows students to conduct advanced research under the guidance of distinguished faculty specializing in human-computer interaction. The UCL Interaction Centre (UCLIC) stands as a premier hub for cutting-edge interdisciplinary research in human-technology interactions, informing innovative design solutions. Jointly operated by UCL's Computer Science Department and Division of Psychology and Language Sciences, UCLIC benefits from UCL's exceptional research standing - ranked second nationally for Computer Science research power and first for Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience in REF 2021.

This cross-disciplinary initiative enables postgraduate researchers to work alongside leading experts in human-computer interaction. Our partnerships extend to industrial and academic collaborators, including healthcare providers, tech manufacturers, and international institutions. State-of-the-art facilities feature an eye-tracking usability lab, adaptable research spaces, and specialized equipment for physical computing and prototyping projects. Graduates have established careers at academic and corporate institutions across North America, Europe, Asia, and New Zealand.

Qualification Requirements

Normally a minimum of an upper second-class UK Bachelor’s degree or a taught Master’s degree, or the overseas equivalent, in a subject relevant to human-computer interaction. Such subjects include Psychology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering Design, or other cognitive or applied sciences. Applicants with other qualifications and sufficient relevant experience and background knowledge may be considered. Overall grade of 7.0 with a minimum of 6.5 in each of the subtests. Overall score of 100 with 24/30 in reading and writing and 20/30 in speaking and listening.
