Our doctoral program is designed to prepare future leaders with the essential skills to tackle significant health issues of our time and create tangible societal benefits. The Applied Health Research Doctorate is housed in UCL's Institute of Epidemiology and Health Care.

You'll become part of a highly interactive PhD program that currently nurtures a dynamic international community of more than 100 scholars.

This program provides access to a cross-disciplinary research environment where specialists investigate diverse public health priorities including:

Quality enhancement projects
Addressing economic disparities
Assessing healthcare system reforms
Economic aspects of healthcare

Qualification Requirements

A minimum of an upper second-class UK Bachelor's degree and/or a Master's degree (preferably with a merit or distinction) in a relevant discipline, or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard. The English language level for this programme is: Level 2

UCL Pre-Master's and Pre-sessional English courses are for international students who are aiming to study for a postgraduate degree at UCL. The courses will develop your academic English and academic skills required to succeed at postgraduate level. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic Version - Overall score of 7.0 and a minimum of 6.5 in each component. Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Overall score of 96 with 24/30 in reading and writing and 22/30 in speaking and listening.
