The Centre for Dance Research (C-DaRE) focuses on an inclusive, interdisciplinary exploration of dance through artistic and academic inquiry, covering fields such as cultural heritage, technology and artificial intelligence, intellectual property, health and wellness, and practice-based studies. C-DaRE organizes numerous conferences, symposia, and research gatherings that draw participants from the UK and around the world. Our biennial Dance and Somatic Practices conference serves as a global platform for scholars and practitioners to present their latest work through curated panels, presentations, workshops, and performance showcases. Additionally, we host the distinctive C-DaRE Invites series, where each event offers A Unique Opportunity crafted in partnership with our team and a guest proposer. These gatherings may feature presentations, lectures, dialogues, practice demonstrations, performances, and film screenings, all free and open to the public (unless specified otherwise). Contributors include C-DaRE affiliates, postgraduate researchers, and external guests such as scholars, artists, and institutions. Every session centers on themes connected to the invitee's ongoing work and passions, often scheduled around mealtimes—breakfast, lunch, or afternoon tea—when feasible. We view shared meals as a catalyst for dialogue, relationship-building, and collaborative opportunities, which is why we provide refreshments for both presenters and attendees to enjoy together during the event.
