This intensive four-year professional doctorate program is designed to cultivate the academic, clinical, and research competencies required for professional practice as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist. Successful completion leads to a DPsych qualification and membership in the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP). The first year focuses on research methodology instruction and critical analysis of research outcomes. Students conduct service-based research projects during clinical placements while attending lecture series on clinical intervention assessment.
Starting in year two, participants pursue a specialized research project aligned with child psychotherapy practice, receiving comprehensive supervision throughout.
The curriculum emphasizes practical research skills essential for contemporary practitioners, structured to be completed in four consecutive academic years. This integrated approach ensures research principles complement clinical training, enabling graduates to effectively incorporate research insights into their therapeutic work.
