Our Geography BA program integrates both human and physical geography, tackling pressing worldwide challenges like climate change, migration, geopolitical conflicts, and urban expansion. You'll gain hands-on experience through field excursions, diverse course selections, and a forward-thinking curriculum informed by our internationally renowned faculty. The Geography BA and BSc programs share foundational courses initially, establishing a robust base for your geographical studies. During your first year, you'll complete five required modules—two on Geographic Thinking, two on Field Geography, plus Understanding Our Planet. You can then choose three electives from our four offerings, or select two geography options plus one module from another department.
In your second year, one or two core modules are paired with six or seven electives from an extensive selection, including field courses. This year emphasizes research methodology development. You may start specializing in areas like development geography, environmental studies, urban planning, GIS technology, or climate science. Students have the option to take one module outside the geography department.
