This combined Finnish and Portuguese program provides exceptional opportunities to cultivate comprehensive, cross-cultural perspectives in the humanities. Students can select from diverse course offerings spanning literature, linguistic studies, history, sociology, philosophy, visual arts, cinema, and other cultural aspects tied to their language studies. During the first, second, and final years, participants will engage in language instruction for their selected tongues alongside related cultural studies. The curriculum also incorporates interdisciplinary courses from SELCS and SSEES, examining literature, film, linguistics, and history through multiple lenses.
The third year features an international study experience divided between two nations where the target languages are spoken. Learners attain equivalent language proficiency regardless of whether they begin as complete beginners or with prior knowledge of the languages.
