Our degree program in Danish and Yiddish provides exceptional opportunities to cultivate comprehensive, comparative, and cross-cultural perspectives in the humanities. Students can select from an extensive array of courses covering literature, linguistic heritage, historical studies, social sciences, philosophical thought, visual arts, cinema, and various cultural aspects tied to the languages they'll master.
The third year involves international study, divided between two nations where your selected languages are prevalent. All students attain equivalent language proficiency, whether beginning as novices or with prior experience. Danish language instruction occurs at UCL's School of European Languages, Culture & Society (SELCS), while Yiddish studies are conducted through UCL's Hebrew & Jewish Studies department.
During your first, second, and final academic years, you'll enroll in courses focused on your chosen languages along with their associated literary traditions, cultural contexts, historical backgrounds, and linguistic structures.
