The MRes Health (named routes) program welcomes both NIHR-funded and self-funded students. Serving as either an independent qualification or preparation for PhD studies, it offers an introduction to research methodologies. The curriculum enhances professional practice through comprehensive research training and specialized Master's-level module options.

Following a structured yet adaptable format, the program includes three taught components: two foundational research methods courses and one discipline-specific module applicable to various related practice areas.

Qualification Requirements

Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English language, mathematics and a science subject.
An upper-second-class degree (or equivalent) in a related field is required. Related degrees include medical, sport, and biomedical science, and science degrees such as biology, biochemistry, chemistry, and physiology. Other degrees will be considered on an individual basis.
In addition to the above, candidates are required to have practical experience relating to their research question.
Applicants with extensive relevant industry experience with a 2.2 in a relevant field, and applicants with a first or upper second classification in a non-specified field with work experience in a relevant environment will be referred to the Programme leader for consideration.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) will also be considered by the programme at the point of entry up to 60 credits.
