The MRes in Archaeology program enables students to undertake independent archaeological investigations on a subject of their choice while developing advanced research capabilities and project management expertise. This program serves as exceptional preparation for pursuing MPhil/PhD studies and offers practical skills for careers in archaeology and heritage fields.
Participants will gain comprehensive knowledge of contemporary archaeological theories and methodologies, culminating in a substantial 28,000-word research dissertation.
Students benefit from supervision across diverse archaeological and heritage themes, particularly focusing on Britain and adjacent regions, guided by our team of renowned specialists. Our research strengths encompass: archaeological history and theory, Mesolithic studies, Iron Age and Roman Britain, Anglo-Saxon and Viking archaeology, geoarchaeology, burial archaeology, memory studies, material culture research, art and aesthetics, stone sculpture analysis, and community archaeology initiatives.
