The PhD program in Caribbean and Latin American Studies allows graduate students to conduct comprehensive research under faculty guidance, exploring the region's history, culture, social anthropology, and political landscape. University scholars specializing in this field primarily focus on research spanning from the late 1700s to contemporary times.
Upon enrollment, students are registered for the PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) degree, though this status remains provisional until successful completion of the first Annual Review, typically occurring 12-18 months after registration.
While the standard doctoral program duration is three years, exceptional students demonstrating accelerated progress may petition the University Research Committee for early submission after their second year.
The University considers part-time applications and may approve them based on available teaching resources.
