To honor the accomplishment of completing the Advanced Command and Staff Course (ACSC) or its international equivalent, The University of Buckingham provides an exclusive six-month discounted MA by Research program in Modern War Studies and Contemporary Military History. This opportunity is available to all officers (both regular and reserve) who have successfully graduated from the ACSC or a comparable course at their home institutions worldwide.

The program begins in October with a Research Skills Study Day. Following six months of guided independent research, students conclude by submitting a dissertation ranging from 12,500 to 25,000 words. Throughout their studies, participants are invited to attend guest seminars at the Army and Navy Club in Pall Mall, as well as a research day at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

While the program is London-based, there are no residency requirements. Previous participants have joined from across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Although in-person tutorials are preferred, alternative (online) teaching methods are also available.
