This program offers the chance to pursue in-depth interdisciplinary research on East Asia. You'll work alongside globally recognized experts in Sociology, Politics, and International Relations within a vibrant and encouraging academic setting. Our research concentrates on South and East Asian cultures, societies, and political systems, examining critical topics such as security, conflict resolution, peace studies, ethnic relations, migration patterns, gender dynamics, racial issues, colonial histories, environmental challenges, economic systems, social stratification, political philosophy, and the interplay between technology and society.

Our faculty possesses specialized knowledge in various cultural, political, and social theories, employing diverse research approaches. Each doctoral candidate receives guidance from two supervisors whose academic specialties align with their research focus.

We emphasize thorough conceptual and empirical studies that address pressing social and political concerns. Our mission is to push boundaries in political and sociological scholarship through innovative theories, knowledge, and methodologies. We conduct internationally significant research that responds to our interconnected global reality.
