Since 2010, the University of Bristol has provided specialized Clinical Neuropsychology programs in collaboration with North Bristol NHS Trust, home to a prominent neurosciences and trauma center. These clinical courses seek to motivate healthcare professionals to develop their neuropsychological expertise while preparing them for listing on the British Psychological Society's Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists (SRCN). The diploma fulfills the adult-focused knowledge and practical requirements for advanced clinical neuropsychology training.
This qualification mirrors our MSc in Clinical Neuropsychology, covering both theoretical knowledge and practical experience needed for SRCN registration. It enables candidates to leverage prior learning and casework from their DClin studies, expediting the postdoctoral training necessary for SRCN qualification. Applicants must be enrolled in a UK-based DClin program at an institution partnered with the University of Bristol, with participating universities listed on our site.
Approximately 80% of instruction comes from active clinicians. The curriculum explores various neuropsychological conditions while emphasizing assessment techniques, diagnostic approaches, and rehabilitation strategies.
Students must independently obtain paid positions in neuropsychology services during their certification period to gain clinical exposure, along with arranging professional supervision. Our program supplements this with expert guidance from SRCN-registered clinicians, offering portfolio development assistance, case review feedback, and mock examination preparation to ensure trainees meet SRCN competency standards.
