Physics is a fundamentally global endeavor, pursued by researchers at institutions worldwide who engage in both competition and collaboration. The Physics with International Experience program provides early exposure to this essential dimension of the field.
This course combines rigorous physics education with overseas living opportunities. You'll spend your third year at a partner university, either studying or conducting research. The program is coordinated with a Bristol tutor, and English serves as the working language.
While abroad, you'll primarily engage with local academic opportunities. Many students join research teams at their host institutions - past participants have explored astrophysics in Canada, nanophysics in Brazil, and particle physics in the United States.
Alternatively, you can enroll in courses through Bristol's Global Opportunities program, continuing core physics studies remotely while preparing for your final year back at Bristol.
The program cultivates the diverse skill set characteristic of physicists: problem-solving, quantitative analysis, and effective communication, along with experimental, theoretical, and analytical capabilities - all highly valued in both research and industrial careers.
Join our welcoming department with its vibrant, recognized student society. Our physics alumni enjoy exceptional employment outcomes, reflecting the high regard employers have for the transferable skills developed through this program.
