This program centers on inclusive learning approaches. It examines and challenges societal obstacles that hinder the full inclusion and engagement of individuals with disabilities (and those categorized as having 'special' educational requirements) as equal citizens with inherent rights. The curriculum opposes charitable perspectives and deficit-based models that historically - and persistently - frame disabled individuals as recipients of pity, medical intervention, or custodial care. The course incorporates firsthand accounts from disabled communities, their grassroots movements, advocacy efforts for educational equity, and campaigns for social justice.
This pathway prompts a paradigm shift in how we perceive education's role, interrogating whom the system serves and whom it marginalizes. While addressing patterns of discrimination against disabled individuals in broader society, it also investigates their involvement across all educational levels. The program critically examines the evolving language of 'special' needs within modern educational discourse. It considers personal narratives through an intersectional lens encompassing age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status, adopting a global viewpoint. Grounded in (critical) disability scholarship, the curriculum integrates contemporary research, theoretical frameworks, and practical applications. Legislative frameworks and international human rights dimensions form a crucial component of study.

This master's pathway aims to enhance your analytical capabilities for evaluating current scholarship, theoretical models, and practical approaches regarding participation barriers in education.
The MSc Education (Inclusive Education) program is particularly relevant for education professionals across various settings - from primary schools to higher education and adult learning environments. It welcomes teachers, support staff, administrators, family members, advocates, and representatives from Disability Rights Organizations (DROs), while actively promoting involvement from disabled individuals themselves.
