Our rigorous and engaging Master's in Liberal Arts program offers a deep dive into arts and humanities while cultivating essential analytical and communication skills that will serve you during your studies and throughout your career.
This unique program blends focused study in your chosen discipline (your subject 'pathway') with exposure to diverse subjects across the Faculty of Arts. This dual approach fosters creative thinking and equips you with a versatile skill set.
Similar to our BA Liberal Arts program, the MLibArts encourages broad intellectual exploration. The initial two years feature interdisciplinary core units incorporating literature, history, philosophy, art, foreign languages, and data analysis. You'll select optional units while beginning to specialize in your chosen pathway from the Faculty of Arts disciplines.

A distinctive aspect of the MLibArts is the third-year study abroad opportunity at our renowned partner institutions. For more information on international study options, visit the Centre for Study Abroad.
For students considering the modern languages pathway, we particularly recommend the MLibArts over the BA program. The year abroad significantly enhances language proficiency and cultural understanding.
During your fourth year, you'll undertake master's-level coursework, including an interdisciplinary dissertation that synthesizes knowledge gained throughout your degree. You'll also complete advanced units in your specialization and electives from across the faculty.
Please note: English, History, and Music pathways require A-level (or equivalent) qualifications in those subjects. For English, this must be English Literature or English Language & Literature.
Language pathways require A-level (or equivalent) qualifications in any ancient or modern language.
