This program enables you to merge two deeply connected fields, cultivating diverse skills in both economics and philosophy.
Economics demands technical precision. You'll enhance your analytical abilities through required coursework in macroeconomics, microeconomics, mathematics, statistics, and econometrics (using statistical techniques to analyze economic models). These are balanced with philosophy units that develop capabilities in textual interpretation, written and oral communication, logical reasoning, and critical analysis.
As you advance in your studies, you'll gain more flexibility to choose specialized courses aligned with your interests.
Past economics electives have included: Economic Thought History, Environmental Economics, Data Science, and Contemporary Economic Issues. Philosophy offerings have featured: Democratic Theory, Psychology Philosophy, Concepts of Evil, Deviance and Criminality, and Mathematics Philosophy.
You can opt to expand your degree to four years, spending your third year studying economics abroad at a prestigious international university before returning to Bristol for your final year. This option blends the rigorous academic foundation of our economics curriculum with valuable global experience that mirrors today's interconnected economy.
