Our BA Honours program in Philosophy, Religion, and Ethics encourages you to examine life's profound inquiries. What gives life purpose? What duties do we hold toward others and our environment? How can historical philosophical and religious teachings inform modern thought? How should we evaluate logical proofs for divine existence? What connections exist between belief systems, secular views, and cultural, social, and political spheres?
Learners engage with coursework spanning philosophy, religious studies, and moral philosophy, while also examining their intersections. This approach incorporates diverse worldviews including Christian, Islamic, Jewish, Hindu, and Buddhist traditions alongside secular perspectives like humanism and atheism. The curriculum equally covers both analytical and continental philosophical traditions.
Our Roehampton program stands out through its emphasis on applied humanities. You'll develop skills to address modern challenges concerning societal issues, policy matters, equity, and personal dilemmas. Potential applications include environmental ethics, cross-cultural understanding, or religious discourse. Through media and artistic exploration, you might investigate topics like conflict resolution, religious extremism, or debates surrounding medical ethics.
