This four-year program shares the same foundational structure as our BSc Geography degree, but includes a third year spent studying geography and related subjects at an international English-speaking university.
Your first year provides comprehensive introductions to both human and physical geography while building essential geographical and scientific competencies. Subsequent years focus on specialized modules in either human or physical geography disciplines.
Physical geography options span three key domains: glacial studies, water systems, and environmental transformation. Human geography modules offer deep dives into cultural, economic, and social geography, highlighting theoretical frameworks and methodological approaches for addressing modern geographical challenges. Subject matter ranges from global economic development and political systems to health disparities and current social theories.
You'll gain proficiency in specialized digital tools, statistical analysis, and field data collection techniques. Hands-on learning through field excursions forms a core part of the curriculum, including UK-based residential trips in year one and typically an international field study in year two.
Your third-year international study placement will be customized to your academic interests. We maintain exchange partnerships with prestigious universities across North America, Asia-Pacific, and other global locations including the US, Canada, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong.
