Electrical and electronic engineering stands as one of the most expansive engineering fields, leveraging advanced technology to tackle key challenges in today's world. Industries like consumer electronics, renewable energy, transportation, medical technology, and telecommunications increasingly seek qualified graduates.
The first two years establish a solid foundation in mathematics, computing, analog and digital systems, communications, electromagnetics, power electronics, and control systems. Students then embark on a year-long industrial placement. After completing this practical experience and returning for the third academic year, students conduct independent research projects and select from various specialized modules, allowing focus areas ranging from power systems to telecommunications.
The Year in Industry program enables students to apply their first two years' knowledge in a professional setting. This hands-on experience proves valuable when undertaking research projects during the final university year. While direct enrollment isn't available, high-achieving BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering students may transfer after excelling academically and passing placement interviews.
Strong industry partnerships ensure outstanding career opportunities. Notable employers of recent graduates include Intel, BBC, Dyson, Jaguar Land Rover, Siemens, HP, EDF Energy, and numerous other leading companies.
