The University of Brighton supports diverse research initiatives in Sociology and related social science fields, encompassing studies in Social Policy and Social Work, while facilitating interdisciplinary collaborations that employ sociological approaches. Sociology PhD candidates are housed in the School of Humanities and Social Science at Brighton's Falmer campus. The program offers dynamic academic engagement, with faculty exploring varied sociological themes including healthcare, mobility studies, adolescent pregnancy and parenting, life transitions, gender studies, migration patterns, space sociology, and class identity. Research supervision is available in both Social Policy and Social Work. Enrolled PhD students join one or more of the university's specialized research hubs (COREs or REGs), gaining access to additional mentorship and professional networking alongside their core supervision.
