The BEng in Aerospace Engineering offers comprehensive training across essential engineering fields relevant to today's and tomorrow's aerospace sector and research domains. Core subjects encompass mathematics, mechanics, fluid dynamics, electronics, flight mechanics, design principles, and materials engineering, forming the foundation for designing and operating both aircraft and spacecraft. Through elective options, you'll develop expertise to pioneer advancements in satellite technology, deep space exploration, and drone systems where remote operation and extended-range communication are vital.
This program features hands-on learning opportunities. You'll apply theoretical knowledge through flight training sessions using our specialized simulator to master aircraft handling characteristics, followed by actual flights in an instrumented aircraft for data collection. Our students have secured notable industry recognition - for instance, a team of fourth-year students claimed top honors in the Royal Aeronautical Society's 2021-22 Light Aircraft Design Competition and documented their winning project.
The curriculum addresses the field's interdisciplinary aspects through collaborative coursework and group projects throughout all study years. While students can focus on specific areas like advanced materials or communication systems, the program maintains a wide-ranging approach to prepare graduates for successful careers across aviation and space technology sectors.
