Our department provides two research degree options: MPhil or PhD programs across various disciplines such as social policy, criminology, and sociology.
At the School of Social Policy, we deliver an experience that goes beyond academic qualifications. PhD candidates can participate in numerous events like Departmental Research Seminars, Research Centre Seminars, Postgraduate Research Student Seminars, and join an active community of PhD researchers.
We invite applications for research degrees in social policy, sociology, and criminology. Applicants should submit a research proposal along with supporting documents like a personal statement, CV, and a supervision confirmation from their primary advisor. We encourage prospective students to explore diverse research areas and reach out to potential supervisors beforehand. Supervision is typically provided by faculty from the Department of Social Policy, Sociology and Criminology, though cross-departmental or joint supervision arrangements are also available.
