Renowned both nationally and globally, the School of Education stands as a premier institution offering diverse research opportunities for full-time and part-time students.
With its distinguished reputation in educational research, the School consistently achieves top rankings in the UK's Research Excellence Framework (REF) evaluations conducted every six years. The 2021 REF results placed the School of Education as the 3rd highest-ranked institution in the country for research quality.
Established in 1896 as the Department of Education and reorganized as the School of Education in 1947, it has grown into one of the UK's largest research-intensive education schools. With over 100 faculty members educating more than 2,500 students, the School houses multiple departments and specialized research centers. Additionally, it hosts an ESRC-accredited Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) for advanced research studies.
