This four-year MSci program in Physics (International Study) offers comprehensive physics education along with the chance to study abroad at universities across Europe or in destinations like Australia, Canada, and Japan.
Compared to the BSc version, the MSci Physics (International Study) program places stronger focus on physics during the overseas year. Graduates gain valuable skills in physics and mathematics combined with foreign language proficiency, making them highly employable.
For exchanges to non-English speaking institutions, MSci candidates need an A Level (grade B or higher) in the relevant language. Students must continue language instruction during their first two years at the University of Birmingham. Additional information is available in the modules section.
During the fourth year of this Physics MSci program, students dedicate significant time to an independent research project, collaborating with our renowned research teams. The degree also includes various project opportunities, such as laboratory work in the initial years. These projects help develop crucial skills like planning and report writing. The final year features a major group project involving 10-20 students, fostering teamwork to tackle complex challenges beyond individual capability. These collaborative skills prove essential for future professional success.
