As demand for mental health nurses continues to rise, our program is carefully crafted to equip students with the expertise needed to support patients in achieving wellbeing. Gain practical experience through our specialized placements while we guide you toward excellence in mental health nursing. Developed in collaboration with leading Birmingham healthcare providers, this course ensures you're prepared for modern nursing practice and future registration as a mental health nurse. The curriculum explores specialized mental health topics alongside foundational studies in biological, pharmacological, and social sciences, nursing theories, care systems, and progressive clinical skills for delivering personalized care. Medication management training, including accurate dosage calculations, forms another crucial component.

While empathy is vital for all nursing professionals, it becomes particularly indispensable in mental health practice. Students must deeply understand patient, caregiver, and community healthcare experiences - a perspective we actively cultivate through coursework focused on service evaluation and continuous improvement. The program strongly emphasizes developing your research capabilities, both independently and collaboratively, while fostering systematic critical thinking grounded in evidence-based practice.
