Our Chemical Engineering Foundation Year serves as an integrated preparatory program, providing a pathway to our top-ranked chemical engineering bachelor's degrees. If you lack the required qualifications for direct first-year admission, this program offers an excellent alternative. The School of Chemical Engineering pioneered the UK's first cryogenic liquid energy storage research facility, featuring cutting-edge laboratories, advanced equipment, and a significant demonstration facility - The Birmingham Centre for Cryogenic Energy Storage. In your third year, you'll complete a design project focused on developing a specific chemical process, supported by industry collaboration. Our substantial investment in modern, specialized laboratory facilities creates an ideal learning environment that fosters teamwork and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
