Explore how social policy and criminology reveal key aspects of our societies. Discover how these disciplines separately analyze social issues and harms, while their combined study presents a dynamic perspective on modern life. Our Joint Honours degree in Social Policy and Criminology gives you a unique chance to investigate topics central to current political and media discussions. This combined program merges two popular fields that together provide comprehensive understanding of various social challenges. You'll analyze why certain issues are classified as either 'crimes' or 'social policy' matters, leading to different responses through welfare systems or criminal justice approaches. High-achieving students may qualify for specialized placements in their second year. This interdisciplinary program appeals to students with diverse A-level backgrounds who are particularly interested in subjects like poverty, homelessness, criminal justice, substance abuse, and related social issues. The first two years mirror our standard degree structure, with the third year spent studying abroad at partner universities worldwide. You'll then return for your final year to complete the program.
