Pursuing a BA in Ancient History as an undergraduate at the University of Birmingham allows you to examine various eras, nations, and civilizations within a top-tier research environment. You'll examine surviving primary materials while interpreting the artifacts and structures left by ancient civilizations.
Investigate the emergence and evolution of early cultures across thousands of years, spanning Ancient Egypt, Classical Greece, Rome's Republican and Imperial periods, through to Late Antiquity and the Byzantine Empire. Your studies will be supported by exceptional resources like the Classics, Ancient History and Archaeology Museum and the Eton Myers Collection.
During your second year, you'll experience history firsthand through our funded field trip to significant archaeological locations. Accompanied by our distinguished faculty, this immersive journey will help shape your individual research project while providing expert guidance.
