This in-depth MSc program provides an extensive exploration of public health challenges at local, national, and international levels, cultivating specialized expertise to enhance public health initiatives and disease control globally. Students acquire essential research capabilities; examine the worldwide factors influencing healthcare system transformations; and deepen their comprehension of policy creation and execution in both industrialized and developing countries. The curriculum also emphasizes practical application through examining authentic global case studies. What you'll study Our Public Health MSc program prepares students with expert knowledge and competencies to design, implement, and oversee high-standard public health services for diverse populations. The foundational Epidemiology in Public Health module introduces core epidemiological concepts, disease patterns, and research methodologies. Students also explore fundamental Principles, Policies and Issues in Public Health, analyzing their influence on contemporary public health approaches. Additionally, the program covers Healthcare Commissioning theories and practices, highlighting their significance for public health systems worldwide. A key component, Public Health Protection, investigates strategies for preventing and managing infectious disease outbreaks and public health emergencies. Students engage with resilience planning for various threats, from environmental disasters to hazardous material incidents. The Ethical and Legal Issues in Healthcare module addresses contentious topics like assisted dying legislation and obesity intervention strategies, preparing students to navigate complex healthcare debates. The program adopts an inclusive perspective on Health and Social Care Inequalities, examining how factors like socioeconomic status, gender, race, and age intersect to shape health outcomes.
