This course fulfills ARB/RIBA Part 2 educational standards, equipping you with advanced architectural expertise and hands-on skills to develop sophisticated design concepts. The program features an integrated semester-long placement during your first year, blending academic learning with real-world practice to bridge design theory and professional application. This approach also deepens your insight into the evolving responsibilities of architects within the construction sector.
Second semester lectures explore diverse subjects including architectural heritage, theoretical frameworks, building science, ecological design principles, and urban planning. Students may participate in study trips and workshops hosted in various UK or European cities.
During your second year, you'll delve deeper into design through research initiatives and studio work, allowing specialization in preferred architectural domains. Collaborative projects will challenge you to evaluate design alternatives and formulate sustainable solutions for buildings and urban spaces. You'll conduct an in-depth urban case study and formulate a project proposal for your culminating studio assignment.
