This program unites artists, directors, writers, researchers, and designers to shape the future of performance in our era. The MA in Performance: Design and Practice investigates performance creation and time-based works, fostering interdisciplinary approaches that challenge traditional distinctions between fine art, performance, and theater. Students develop critical thinking and innovative approaches while examining emerging practice forms. Key questions include: How do we define contemporary performance? What role does it serve? Who is its intended audience?
The program nurtures independent practitioners in experimental theater, live art, and dramaturgy through design. Participants will develop theatrical works that engage with performance's evolving and debated landscape. The curriculum challenges established norms and traditional creative roles, including those of playwrights, designers, directors, and performers.
