Located within the School of Language, Literature, Film and Visual Culture, our Spanish and Latin American Studies research programs stand out for their focus on 20th and 21st century Spain, Mexico's past and present, gender history in modern Spain and Latin America, translation research, Latin America's scientific history, and examinations of citizenship and society in both Latin America and Spain. Applicants must provide a detailed research proposal and two academic references from their most recent academic institution.Entrance requirements for a PhD at the University of Aberdeen are either a Masters degree or a first or upper-second class Honours degree in an appropriate area from an approved university (or an equivalent qualification).
Those with lower qualifications may be asked to register for a Masters degree by research (Mlitt, MSc, MTh, LLM, MLE or MRes) with satisfactory progress allowing conversion to a PhD programme.
