This program provides the chance to investigate how the human body protects itself and the immune system's involvement in serious conditions like multiple sclerosis, increasing cases of asthma and allergies, and cancer progression. You'll examine how immune responses can be harnessed for innovative treatments, including vaccines, and their significance in transplant success and blood transfusions. The curriculum delivers comprehensive knowledge of Immunology across molecular, cellular, and systemic levels. Through our research-focused teaching, incorporating cutting-edge immunological discoveries, you'll acquire skills applicable to diverse careers in Immunology and broader medical sciences. During your fourth year, you'll complete an industrial placement, graduating after five years with an MSci (an undergraduate Master's degree) rather than a BSc. Placement opportunities vary but typically allow you to gain hands-on experience in industrial, commercial, or research settings, building practical skills that complement your academic studies and boost career prospects.
