Microbiology is the scientific discipline dedicated to studying microorganisms, examining microscopic life forms ranging from bacteria and fungi to protozoa and even non-living viruses. Immunology, on the other hand, investigates the immune system and its mechanisms for defending the body against these microorganisms. This program delves into the structure, function, and behavior of microbes, their environmental interactions, disease-causing potential, and industrial uses. By integrating these two fields, the program explores their interconnected roles in combating infectious diseases and addressing immune system disorders. Practical applications, including the creation of new antimicrobials and immunotherapies, will ground the curriculum in real-world scenarios.
