Boost your bachelor's degree by adding a year-long placement in industry, business, or research. Scientists are now utilizing a growing number of immune system components to treat or target various diseases. Immunology explores how the body protects itself from harmful microbes and cancer, while also playing a key role in autoimmune disorders, asthma, and allergies. Pharmacology focuses on discovering, analyzing, and assessing drugs used as medications or research tools to better understand health and disease. It also examines drug safety and how medications are absorbed, processed, and eliminated by the body. Our program investigates how immune system mechanisms can be harnessed for innovative treatments like vaccines. Students will develop comprehensive knowledge of both fields at molecular, cellular, and systemic levels. Through our research-focused curriculum featuring cutting-edge advancements, graduates gain expertise for diverse careers in immunology, pharmacology, and broader medical sciences.
During your fourth year, you'll complete a 12-month professional placement, earning an MSci (undergraduate Master's degree) after five years instead of a BSc. Placement opportunities vary widely, but typically allow you to gain hands-on experience in industrial, corporate, or research settings, building practical skills that complement your academic studies and improve your career prospects.
