The Comparative Literature & Culture program offers a dynamic way to examine literary and cultural works throughout Europe, Latin America, English-speaking regions, and other global contexts. Our diverse course selection provides the freedom to explore and specialize in your preferred subjects while analyzing literature, culture, and societal influences across multiple frameworks. This cross-disciplinary method lets you examine texts and cultural expressions beyond conventional academic borders, utilizing approaches from humanities and social sciences such as cultural studies, film analysis, visual culture research, anthropology, history, gender studies, and environmental humanities. You'll gain insights from specialists in global literature, cultural studies, political systems, and social structures, fostering nuanced perspectives. Additionally, you'll enhance your awareness of regional and worldwide connections, equipping you with linguistic and cultural competencies for collaborative work. The program integrates comprehensive Gaelic language instruction with Comparative Literature & Culture studies, allowing you to refine language abilities while exploring cultural, historical, and political dimensions. Options include studying multiple languages or taking translation and interpreting courses to boost cross-cultural communication. A semester or year abroad is available to improve Gaelic fluency and immerse yourself in another cultural environment.
