Studying Law with Music options at Aberdeen combines the excellence of our renowned Law School – ranked 5th in the UK for student satisfaction (NSS 2022) – with the chance to create, study, and perform alongside internationally acclaimed composers and musicologists across diverse musical styles, instruments, and historical periods.
Aberdeen's Law program examines how historical, social, political, and economic factors shape legal frameworks and societies. Rather than simply memorizing laws, you'll develop true legal reasoning skills. Our exceptional faculty will challenge you with intricate, practical case studies as you explore criminal, public, and private law, legal systems, contracts, human rights, property law, family law, and EU legal matters.
You'll have numerous opportunities to refine your legal abilities through student-driven activities like mock trials, our vibrant Law Society, the student journal (which may publish your work), and our community legal initiative – the Aberdeen Law Project. Simultaneously, you can nurture your musical talents through performance courses led by both established and emerging musicians spanning all genres and eras.
While many graduates pursue legal careers, over a third of Aberdeen Law alumni leverage their degree as a springboard into diverse fields including business, media, finance, education (potentially combining with music), government agencies, and law enforcement.
