Located at Ulster University's Coleraine Campus in Northern Ireland, NICHE conducts studies exploring how food and nutrition contribute to enhanced health and wellness across all life stages, from pregnancy to later years. As Ireland's biggest nutrition research team and among the largest in the UK and Europe, we comprise 100 members spanning academics, researchers, technical experts, business support personnel, PhD candidates, master's students, and undergraduate interns. NICHE's goal is to attain worldwide recognition for excellence in nutrition research and education. Our studies span all age groups, with special emphasis on early development and aging processes. By examining nutrition's role in both health and illness, along with the biological mechanisms at play, we strive to improve wellbeing and prevent diet-related conditions such as obesity, metabolic disorders, heart disease, bone loss, autoimmune issues, gastrointestinal ailments, cognitive decline, and mental health challenges.
