The Linguistics department hosts a steady stream of guest speakers and visiting academics who collaborate with the unit for extended durations. Doctoral candidates receive support to showcase their research at global conferences, participate in international summer programs, and integrate into the worldwide academic community by undertaking study semesters at partner institutions abroad. The group's research encompasses diverse linguistic fields, from theoretical syntax and semantics to practical language applications. Specific expertise includes historical and contemporary syntax, the intersection of syntax and morphology, speech pathology, language learning (both first and additional languages), cognitive language processing, developmental linguistics, and multilingual studies. A significant focus also lies in employing discourse and conversational analysis to examine health-related communication and social interaction patterns.
