Typically centered on transforming existing structures, interior designers assess client requirements and the building's intended purpose, develop spatial arrangements, and enhance flow and functionality. As an interior design professional, you'll choose materials, design fixtures and furnishings, and select color schemes and lighting arrangements.

You'll concentrate on both current and emerging design movements, incorporating aspects like wellness, environmental responsibility, and sustainable practices while addressing important social and ethical considerations in modern design. The program teaches you to understand interiors within human and societal contexts, while involving you in real-world projects and national contests that mirror professional scenarios - equipping you to become an innovative design expert capable of collaborating with diverse clients.

Teesside's interior design program boasts a rich legacy, with undergraduate instruction spanning more than five decades. We're additionally recognized as a Society of British and International Interior Design Center of Excellence.
