Pursuing a PhD or MPhil in Welsh allows you to embark on an extensive research project aligned with your personal interests and aspirations.
This prestigious qualification can open doors to academic careers or expand job opportunities in sectors like education, government agencies, or private industry.
Your research topic will be finalized in collaboration with academic supervisors, and we advise initiating these discussions prior to application to help formulate your preliminary proposal.
Throughout your studies, you'll receive dedicated guidance from two expert supervisors through biweekly meetings in your first term, followed by scheduled sessions at mutually agreed intervals.
You'll refine essential research capabilities for advanced work in Welsh studies, complemented by on-campus skills development programs. Opportunities include presenting your findings at departmental seminars and the annual Postgraduate Conference.
From your second year onward, you may teach undergraduate tutorials and seminars, receiving both training and compensation. Approved conference attendance and external research activities may also qualify for financial assistance.
