Pursuing a PhD or MPhil in History allows you to engage in an extensive research project driven by your personal interests. The full-time PhD program spans three years (six years part-time), while the MPhil requires two years of full-time study (four years part-time). For the PhD, you'll submit a thesis of maximum 100,000 words, compared to 60,000 words for the MPhil, followed by an oral defense (viva voce). Both programs involve original research under faculty supervision, resulting in a thesis that advances historical understanding.
