Nanomedicine represents the convergence of clinical medicine, pharmaceutical sciences, regenerative medicine, and nano(geno)toxicology. The growing interest and recognition of nanotechnology's medical applications have spurred the development of this field. Building upon the £22 million infrastructure investment in the Centre for Nanohealth (CNH), this program is ideal for life sciences graduates pursuing careers in pharmaceutical industries or research through PhD studies. Students will explore nano-based advancements in molecular medicine, drug discovery, targeted drug delivery, and diagnostic imaging. Pharmaceutical sciences and advanced therapies are integrated throughout these focus areas, complemented by two specialized tracks: Regenerative Medicine (including biomaterials) and Nano(geno)toxicology, which align with the School's core research priorities. These disciplines benefit from cross-departmental collaboration with engineering and science faculties, culminating in a hands-on, multidisciplinary research project supported by specialized training in statistics, informatics, and research ethics.

This postgraduate program develops highly marketable transferable skills. Our research-driven approach exposes students to cutting-edge scientific discoveries, while intensive practical training equips them with advanced technical competencies for modern bioscience careers—whether in scientific research, clinical applications of nanomedicine, or advanced therapeutics. Students learn within an environment of global research excellence. The nanomedicine curriculum attracts diverse life sciences professionals, with alumni progressing to industrial roles, academic research (including PhD programs), and specialized medical training (such as Graduate Entry Medicine). Graduates enter various sectors, from biopharmaceutical and biotechnology firms focused on drug/technology evaluation and innovation to academic research in nanomedicine-related specialties.
