Over two years (MPhil) or three years (PhD), you'll conduct a mathematics research project under the guidance of our internationally renowned academics. Your work will evolve through engagement in research seminars, workshops, lab sessions, field studies, and collaboration within one of our specialized research teams. Swansea's Mathematics department boasts one of the UK's most prominent probability theory research groups, with particular expertise in stochastic processes, where senior members are globally recognized experts. Our research focuses include:
Algebra and Topology: Specializing in noncommutative geometry, categorical approaches to algebra and topology, homotopy theory, and homological algebra.
Analysis and Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations: Investigating reaction-diffusion systems, convection processes, and fluid dynamics through Navier-Stokes equations.
Probability: Exploring infinite dimensional stochastic analysis, Lvy processes, pseudo-differential operators, and ecological population modeling.
Computational Mathematics: Covering Computational Topology, Data Science, Lattice Gauge Theory, Mathematical Biology, and Cancer Research applications.
