The MA in Mathematics Education is designed for educators, tutors, and professionals with an interest in the methods and practices of teaching mathematics across all educational levels. This program allows participants to examine current challenges in mathematics instruction, investigate foundational theories, and conduct in-depth analyses of mathematical learning processes. Through two core modules—Understanding Mathematics Education and Mathematics for Teachers—students explore evidence-based advancements in pedagogy, along with associated sociological, psychological, curricular, and linguistic considerations, while also deepening their mathematical knowledge to inform teaching practices. Elective modules provide opportunities to focus on specialized areas, such as integrating digital tools into learning (Digital Technologies for Mathematical Learning) or primary-level mathematics instruction (Primary Mathematics Teaching: Mathematics and Pedagogy). Additionally, the independent dissertation/report modules enable students to undertake an extended, methodical academic or professional investigation into their chosen research topic within mathematics education.
